This broadband comparison table of currently available UK adsl packages is ordered by price to help you find the best value broadband deal. Note that most ISPs provide free email support for all their broadband packages, so we only review here the service details on telephone support where known, as that can vary in price. Our Recommendations (for full package details see broadband comparison table below):

Best buy: UK Online, starting at just £9.99 for 512 Kbps broadband. There's limited availability depending on where you are, but its worth checking out their site to see if you can get it.

New users looking for good value and speed: Tiscali 1Mbps broadband package with a 2 Gb cap (sufficient for most users) or £14.99 or their 2Mbps broadband package with a 15 Gb cap for £19.99.

Existing users looking to migrate to a better package: Seriously 2Mbps broadband pay as you go package - from £14.99 for 1Gb up to £27.99 unlimited broadband - no connection fee for migrating customers. Latest news is that Seriously are soon to upgrade its service to 8Mb - and if you sign up now, then you'll be upgraded for free!

Moving house within the next 12 months: Virgin 512 Kbps broadband package starting with a 3Gb cap for £14.99 - no minimum contract and no connection fee. Bad news is that Virgin have recently brought in the right to charge a £50 disconnection fee if you leave them within the first 12 months, but they will connect you at a new address for free when you move house, unlike most other isps.

Note: Not everyone will be able to get 2Mbps broadband yet, depends on your exchange, but BT are upgrading all exchanges over the next year.

This broadband comparison table was last updated in July 2005. Broadband package details should always be checked with the ISP as they are liable to change. Note that the standard upload speed is 256 Kbps across the different broadband packages, so is not included in the comparison utable.

*Virgin have recently brought in the right to charge a £50 disconnection fee if you leave them within the first 12 months, but they will connect your broadband at a new address for free when you move house, unlike most other isps.
